So what's new in Skype for Windows 10 in 2017?

Basically Skype has quietly updates on several quality improvements and general fixes since the year began, however, and more specifically, a lot has happened. See the list below:

Skype released the following on July 13, 2017:
  • a modern, new look which helps you get to calls and conversations faster.
  • ability to start new conversations, see your profile and visit the dial pad all from the top of the screen.
  • able to make changes to your settings via the profile.
  • you can now tell Skype what you think about the new design and practically anything else using the ‘Send feedback’ option in your profile.
  • ability to react to messages with a range of fun emoticons. To leave a reaction, simply tap on the emoticon button next to a message. See who else left a reaction by tapping on any reaction below a message.
  • ability to share files, videos, photos, links and more directly to Skype. Click on the Windows share charm and select Skype.
Earlier on in May 25, 2017, Skype added support for quick switching of light and dark theme dynamically. However, before that on May 8, 2017 you became able to:
  • Share your PC's audio when you share your desktop. Watch videos and listen to music together!
  • See your images without having to leave the app. Tap on an image in a conversation and try this out.
  • Send feedback much more easily – tap on the " on the left navigation bar as Skype sought to hear from you.
